FAQ

Why can Steam Voice Input stay on Default?

After the verified managed setup switches Windows Input to CABLE Output / CABLE Out, Steam's Default input follows that Windows route in most setups. The built-in Setup Guide includes Steam screenshots. Choose CABLE Output manually in Steam only as a fallback when Steam or the game does not follow Windows Default.

What does Restore My Sound do?

Restore My Sound tries to return Windows to the last safe normal PC audio setup: your physical microphone and normal headphones or speakers. Use it if a mixer session did not close cleanly or Windows is still using a GameMixer/VB-CABLE route.

What does Full Setup Check verify?

The guided wizard verifies this PC's selected microphone, VB-CABLE game voice path, Windows Default input, selected sound files, and required hotkeys with live tests. It detects common routing problems, but it does not prove that every PC or game is compatible.

What happens if the VB-CABLE path check fails?

GameMixer explains which part of the path it tested and whether the endpoint was unavailable or no test signal was detected. It can test alternatives and recommend another working CABLE device when one is found; otherwise follow the guided reinstall/device checks and run Full Setup Check again.

Why may GameMixer ask me to run setup before Start Mixer?

Start Mixer relies on a verified CABLE route for managed switching. If the critical checks were never completed, a selected device changed, or the verified device is no longer available, GameMixer asks you to rerun Full Setup Check instead of switching Windows to an unverified path.

Can I try GameMixer before buying?

Yes. We offer a free 3-day trial. Download GameMixer, copy your Hardware ID from the activation screen, then use the contact form below with subject 'Free trial request' and your HWID. After approval, your 3-day trial key is sent by email.

Do I need VB-Cable?

Yes. GameMixer uses VB-Cable for reliable virtual microphone playback. The setup guide walks you through the one-time setup.

Will I see a Windows SmartScreen warning?

GameMixer is not yet code-signed, so Windows may show SmartScreen on first launch. If you choose to proceed, click "More info" and "Run anyway", and only use a copy downloaded from the official FiGapps website.

Does it work offline?

Internet is required for activation, and GameMixer may occasionally verify license status. Paid and lifetime access require the license to remain active.

What audio formats are supported?

MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, AAC, ADTS, M4A, WMA, ASF.

When should I click Start Mixer?

Complete Full Setup Check first, use Fix it for me if offered, and click Start Mixer before launching your game. If the game was already open, restart it after the mixer starts so it can pick up the verified audio route.

What is the Panic Button?

The Panic Button is an optional quick-trigger sound. Set a key, choose a sound, and GameMixer will play it when pressed. It is not an emergency stop.

How does activation work?

Submit your HWID with a trial or paid request. After approval, your license key is sent by email; activation requires internet and binds the key to one device/HWID.

What Windows versions work?

Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit), including N and KN editions.

Which games are supported?

GameMixer is designed for Steam games where the Steam Overlay browser can be opened in-game. It has been tested with CS2 and Counter-Strike: Source, and is designed for many other Steam Overlay games such as Rust and Left 4 Dead 2. If the Steam Overlay browser opens in your game, GameMixer should be usable from there.

Can I move a license to another PC?

Licenses are bound to one device/HWID. If your hardware changes or you need a transfer, contact support; a new activation is not automatic.
